Terms of service

Last updated 12 August 2026

Placeholder. This page states plainly how yeld intends to operate. It is not legal advice and it is not an executed agreement — have counsel review and replace it before launch.

The service

yeld connects publishers of free software with advertisers. Publishers embed the yeld ad unit and earn a share of advertiser spend on valid clicks. Advertisers run campaigns billed per click. Using either side requires an account and acceptance of these terms.

yeld is early. Features, dashboards, and the payout mechanism are still being built, and this document describes the current phase rather than a settled steady state.

Publisher terms

Integration requirements

The placement rules in the docs are part of these terms. In summary:

  • Integrate the unit as documented, in one of the standard slots, on the app's primary screen.
  • Keep the unit visible on page load in a normal session — no sign-in, payment, or task required first — and in the same position on every visit.
  • Run exactly one unit per screen.
  • Leave the "Sponsored" label, the advertiser name, and the "Ads by yeld" attribution intact and legible.
  • Keep ads off authentication screens, checkout and payment flows, error states, empty first-run screens, and any surface showing sensitive user data.
  • Keep personal data and user-generated content out of the context field.

Prohibited implementations

  • Do not disguise the unit as your own UI, and do not restyle it so the Sponsored label or attribution becomes hard to read.
  • Do not gate the unit behind a user action, an app event, a feature flag, or a non-default tab.
  • Do not place the unit in a modal, popup, or interstitial, above the primary action, or anywhere it blocks or shifts the interface.
  • Do not generate impressions or clicks by automated means, incentives, misleading labels, deliberate misplacement, or asking users to click.
  • Do not imitate the unit with a house ad or placeholder of your own when there is no fill.
  • Do not resell, sublicense, or proxy your app ID for traffic that is not your app's.

Earnings

Publishers earn 70% of advertiser spend on valid clicks in their apps; yeld retains 30%. The earning is written to the ledger in the same transaction as the click, and the same click can never be credited twice.

Figures shown in the dashboard are estimates until payouts ship. They may be revised for invalid traffic, currency rounding, refunds, or billing corrections, and no payout is owed on an estimate. When payouts launch, minimums, schedules, and the tax and identity details required to receive money will be published in advance. Traffic marked as test mode never earns anything.

Invalid traffic

yeld may investigate unusual activity, withhold or reverse earnings attributable to invalid traffic, and suspend an app or an account while it does so. Suspended apps stop being served ads — /api/v1/ad returns 403 app_suspended — so the unit renders nothing for the duration. We will explain the reason for a suspension when asked.

Advertiser terms

Creative standards

  • Creatives must be truthful, must describe the product actually being advertised, and must not imitate the host app's interface or a system notification.
  • The landing page must match the creative and must not contain deceptive, harmful, or malicious content.
  • No ads for content that is illegal in the markets you target, and no ads that would be unlawful to place. You are responsible for that assessment.
  • You submit text and an optional logo. Scripts, pixels, iframes, and third-party markup are not accepted, so measurement must happen on your own landing page.
  • yeld may reject, pause, or remove a creative that breaks these standards, and may do so before or after it has served.

Billing and budgets

Campaigns are billed cost-per-click. You are charged your campaign's CPC bid when a valid click is recorded, and never for an impression. Duplicate clicks on one impression are billed once. Campaigns stop serving when total budget is consumed, and stop for the day when a daily budget is consumed, so spend cannot exceed the budgets you set.

During this phase invoicing is manual: spend accrues to your account ledger and yeld invoices you, rather than charging a stored payment method. You are responsible for paying valid invoices, and yeld may pause campaigns with unpaid balances. Clicks flagged as invalid are not billed, and clicks recorded in test mode are never billed.

No guaranteed placement or volume

yeld does not guarantee impressions, clicks, conversions, fill rate, or placement in any specific app. Matching depends on the inventory that exists at the moment of a request; selection is weighted by bid among eligible campaigns. Publishers may add or remove the unit at any time, and yeld may decline to serve a campaign into any given app.

Accounts

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. App IDs are public by design and safe to commit — they are identifiers, not credentials, and disclosing one is not a security incident. Provide accurate information and keep it current.

As-is, and limits on liability

The service is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. yeld does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular ad will serve.

To the maximum extent the law allows, yeld is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data. Any liability that survives is limited to the amounts yeld paid you, or that you paid yeld, in the three months before the claim arose. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Suspension and termination

yeld may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms — invalid traffic, deceptive creatives, prohibited placements, unpaid invoices. You may close your account at any time; remove the unit from your apps or pause your campaigns first. On termination, accrued and verified amounts are settled where practical, and obligations already incurred survive.

Changes

These terms will change as the product does. Material changes will be announced by email to account holders and reflected in the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms.
